Write Review
Today’s news about the hack of Dropbox does not surprise me. Consumer apps by definition do not have the feature set of professional apps. Some advisor tech consultants are telling advisors to use consumer apps for file sharing. Configuring and maintaining those apps wins consultants fees, and advisors want to believe they can use consumer apps without security risk because they’re free or inexpensive. We believe it is a mistake.
It invites sloppy security habits and advisors can easily lose control of client data when they rely on consumer apps. Please read this post about best practices in using secure file-sharing apps.
