A new investment site launched yesterday at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference seems like a really crazy idea.  Betterment.com bills itself as a “replacement for the traditional savings account,” and it claims to be a “Better way to save money.”  But it looks to me like a better way for consumer to lose their savings!

Fake SIPC Site Tries To Victimize Madoff Victims All Over Again

The real Securities Investor Protection Corp. issued a press release today warning Madoff victims against submitting personal information to the fake “International Securities Investor Protection Corporation,” which claims to be based in Geneva and maintain ties to the United Nations and International Monetary Fund. Here's an easy tech tip that should help everyone read content on the Internet more efficiently. It's a pet peeve of mine to open an article on a website only to be bombarded with all the requisite distractions, including: The gigantic banner ad at the top Three tiers of navigation bars to all of the site's content A wide sidebar featuring not-so-related articles, most emailed content, and discounts on your auto insurance All of these distractions mean that the content you're really interested in reading is squished into a column no wider than 3 inches that you end up scrol
