Memolane Launches Its App That Shows Your Social Media Participation On A Timeline Hot

After months in an invite-only beta, Memolane has gone live to the public.

Memolane automatically creates a timeline of your online life.

After authenticating with any of the 10+ supported third-party services, which include Facebook, TripIt, Foursquare, and more, Memolane imports your content and arranges it in a timeline view, according to a TechCrunch post.

After perusing the site, the app looks like a good way to view your tweets and social updates. But it probably can't be used by advisors for archiving to satisfy requirements by RIAs to keep advertising records.

That's because you cannot currently export your "memories" from the online app. That's something you really need. If Memolane went out of business and you cannot get to your social timeline and have no other way of assembling, you could be in trouble with a regulator auditing you.

With any archiving service, it's wise to look at the terms of service and be sure you can download your records in case the company goes belly up.

Memolane does have privacy features enabling you to not allow anyone but you to see your timeline.

Advisors will want to stick with a dedicated app for archiving because its business model depends on giving you an archive. That's not what Memolane does. But it is a cool app for visualizing and searching your social timeline.

If you sign up for the service, please post here to let us know how it works.
