Raising children in a wealthy community isn’t always easy. Depression, anxiety, addiction, and other mental health problems afflict affluent families more often than the average household. This class is about managing problems wealth causes when raising children and answers the following questions:

• What are the main pitfalls that affluent people should look out for
• How can you provide extra value to HNW/UHNW clients that go beyond standard wealth management?
• When and how should you start teaching a child values?
• How can you teach a teenager to value a dollar?
• How can you provide families the skills to grow intergenerational wealth?
• How can you use financial counseling to retain intergenerational clients?

This class helps deepen relationships and adds to your value proposition by transforming tax and financial planning advisors into financial counselors by exploring the pychology behind personal financial decisions.   The agenda:

• Current emotional environment for investors (5 mins)
• Fundamental principles of fiancial counseling (5 mins)
• The psychology of growing up with wealth - pros and cons (15 mins)
• The role of family dynamics in intergenerational wealth (10 mins)
• Tips and best practices for raising healthy children with affluence (10 mins)
• Class review  (5 mins)

The is the second of four financial counseling classes taught by Dr. Frank Murtha in 2024.

Frank Murtha, who holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, is the instructor of this course. For over two decades, he has pioneered the application by financial advisors of the principles of behavioral finance and financial planning psychology. He started The Financial Counseling Institute in 2021 to focus on teaching financial professionals counseling skills.

This webinar is expected to be eligible for 1 CE/CPE credit toward for CFP, CPA, CIMA® and CPWA®, CLU® and ChFC® professionals.

Who Should Attend? Financial Advisors, CFPs, EAs, CFAs, CPA/PFSs, CIMAs, CLUs and ChFCs.
