Class Description

To design portfolios for the next 25 years, this class reviews the range of returns and risk characteristics of a wide variety of asset classes over rolling 25-year periods for the past half-century.

This detailed historical perspective provides practitioners with baseline best- and worst-case scenarios in guiding clients and managing their retirement portfolios.

Prof. Craig Israelsen, an expert in low-expense portfolio design for fiduciaries, reviews:

• rolling 25-year performance for a wide variety of asset classes in retirement accumulation and distribution phases over the past half century.
• the impact on retirement income if fixed-income returns over the next 25 years are 50% smaller than over the past 25 years.
• the impact on retirees if their retirement portfolios experience 20%, 40%, or 60% lower returns overall returns over the next 10 years.

Craig Israelsen, Ph.D., teaches A4A members monthly about low-expense investing. For three decades, Craig has helped define best practices for managing portfolios for individuals, publishing his research monthly in Financial Planning magazine. He's taught on A4A for nearly a decade. Craig's taught family financial management at universities for over two decades, and he's currently Executive-in-Residence in the Financial Planning Program at Utah Valley University.

If you're paying a TAMP or custodian to manage portfolios, Craig's monthly A4A classes will show you how to lower your fees and build a practice that's better for your clients and you.
