Excellent overview of the economic landscape. Favorable view of variable annuity guaranteed living benefits was surprising, since variable annuities generally offer limited investment choices, thereby making it difficult to implement the diversified portfolio strategy discussed a few minutes before. It sounds like he would be a bigger fan of ruin-contingent life annuities.
