No one knows exactly how inflation will affect portfolios over the next five or 10 years. But you can get a clear idea of what to expect by examining how asset classes behaved in periods of high and low inflation.

At this session, Prof. Craig Israelsen, a portfolio design expert, examines inflation since 1926, focusing on asset-class performance and portfolio returns during high and low periods of inflation since 1970.

With interest rates on the rise again after declining for decades, Dr. Israelsen shows the correlation between inflation and interest rates from 1948-2016 and reviews performance of individual asset classes and a multi-asset portfolio over periods of rising and declining interest rates.
