Class Description: Estate & Asset Protection Problems Arising Amid Covid
The Covid pandemic is forcing many individuals to consider, perhaps for the first time, what will happen when their life comes to an end. This session dives deep into estate and asset protection planning situations arising as a result of the Covid crisis, including:
• A reminder about four crucial documents: wills, health care proxies, trusts and beneficiary designation forms.
• The exemption of $11.58 million from estate and gift tax will be cut in half January 1, 2026, but it could happen much sooner depending on the election. Budget shortfalls are expected to force hikes in state and federal income taxes and transfer taxes. What's to be done?
• The applicable federal rate is at an historic low, and so are certain asset values. What do advisors need to know about transfers of property and setting up trusts to minimize estate and gift taxes.
• Asset protection strategies to mitigate personal liability exposure are covered, as many small businesses face financial difficulty.
Gideon Rothschild, Esq., co-chair of the Trusts & Estates and Wealth Preservation Group at Moses & Singer LLP will be available to answer questions at the end of the session.
The class is taught by a team of lawyers from the trust and estate practice group of the NYC law firm of Moses & Singer LLP, including Gideon Rothschild, Daniel Rubin, Carole Bass, Irving Sitnick and Ira Zlotnick
This webinar is eligible for one hour of CE credit towards the CIMA® and CPWA® certifications, IRS EA CE, CFP® CE, PACE credit toward the CLU® and ChFC® designations and live CPA CPE credit.
