"There is a possibility that this could be a hoax, but several people have said on Twitter that they found their real LinkedIn passwords as hashes on the list," according to a report on The Verge.

 

The Verge posted its story earlier this morning and by 11 a.m. ET, it was written about on 60 other websites, incuding BBC news.

 

So, if it is a hoax, it worked.
