Socialware, a social media compliance vendor to broker/dealers, today announced that Craig Pfeiffer, a recently retired Vice Chairman at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, is joining the firm as a senior advisor.

Pfeiffer joins Socialware's current advisory team, says a press release, which consists of Jeff Dachis, Founder and CEO of Dachis Group; Paul Rogers, Site Director at Google; Brian Mennell, entrepreneur and investor and Kenny Van Zant, Marketing and Corporate Strategy at Asana.

Socialware has been adopted enterprise-wide by a number of independent B/Ds, incuding American Portfolios and Cambridge Investment Research. It allows advisors to post content to social networking sites like LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook and automates required archiving and compliance-department approval process.

Pfeiffer retired in September 2011 after 29 years with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and its predecessor firms. His responsibilities included heading Marketing, National Business Development and many strategic businesses centered around wealth management, financial planning and retirement services.

"Social networking sites are quickly becoming one of the most important relationship management tools available for financial advisors," said Pfeiffer, "but many firms are still hesitant to adopt social networking initiatives due to a lack of strategic guidance and embracing the commercial opportunity."
