Wealthy Investors Grow More Confident About Stocks And The Economic Outlook

The Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index rose in January to its highest level in more than three years. “Affluent investors rang in the New Year with a noteworthy gain in investment confidence,” says George H. Walper Jr., president of Spectrem Group.

One in four high-net-worth respondents said their investment plans have been most influenced by rising stock market prices, while 22% cited overall economic conditions, 10% cited retirement and 9% cited household income.

The index is based on monthly interviews with 250 financial decision-makers in households with $500,000 or more in investable assets.

The daily news often covers the thoughts and feelings of low- and middle-income Americans but rarely gives time and attention to the outlook of upper-income individuals, so this survey offers financial advisors a rare opportunity to gauge the feelings of their potential clients.

Are your clients expressing more confidence in their investing outlook going forward? Perhaps they would like to know what their fellow high-net-worth investors are thinking.
