With dozens of designations in the financial services industry, it’s difficult even for a financial advisor to know exactly how they differ.

At this session, Jim Dobbs, Director of Education at Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA), reviews the major differences between financial advisor credentials. He also presents results from IMCA job analysis study of private wealth advisors, comprised of data from hundreds of advisory firms of all practice types. He’ll describe essential knowledge and skills to perform wealth management and explain:

•             key differences between CFA®, CIMA®, CPWA®, CFP® and PFSSM
•             how to decide which designation is best for your career
•             how wealth management differs from financial planning

Jim Dobbs, CFP™, is Director of Education at Investment Management Consultants Association. Previously, he served as director of education at Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., and earlier founded and managed the CFP Board registered financial planning certificate programs at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and The University of Texas at Austin.
