I have experience with Smart Office and find it a key ingredient in managing an insurance practice or agency. I think they could be more competitive with pricing in larger environments - but the pricing otherwise is competitive. They are compelling, have an enormous user community and strong support for their product and have the advantage of maturity in our space and with carriers.
User Review
The Good
EZ Data had a portfolio of proven mature desktop products and are one of the companies in our industry that successfully made the transition to web-based environments. Smart Office has been progressive in supporting integration with third parties, as well as early to the table in supporting new software such as Windows Vista, Windows 7, Internet Explorer 7 and 8.
The workflow and triggers, paired with the base CRM capabilities are central. Synchronization with common office tools are a bonus.
The Bad
For any slightly larger environment, a big missing variable is support for virtualization - i.e. virtualizing servers. In cases where a practice or company can retire 5-10 servers running Smart Office and consolidate to two virtual servers for test and production - this would be invaluable and increase ROI.
The Bottom Line
If you have insurance as an important component of your practice - this is the number one product to consider when evaluating CRM and agency management. The BGA version is the top agency management tool in my view.
