Excellent General Purpose CRM -- Needs Customization for RIAs

The Good
Ease of use in Goldmine PE (ver 8 or higher) is superior to many other products. Great email client integrated with CRM, or can use MS Outlook which is also tightly integrated. Can syncronize to handhelds, home PC, or laptops quite easily. Tight integration (eg mailmerge) with MS Word/Excel.
The Bad
Takes extra customization and training to get full use of product vs. specialized CRM apps for RIA industry. Customization is offered by independent contractors so you will have to search to find competent consultant that understands your needs.
The Bottom Line
A very good general purpose CRM that can pretty much do whatever you can think of -- this is both a potential cost and opportunity. Basically you can use the program as 1) a glorified rolodex with email client -right out of the box, or 2) customize it to create a powerful CRM that integrates with other software and contains an assortment of data fields --which takes time and additional expense.
