Planning software is very frustrating. They clearly don't test on planners.

The Good
Nice detail and transparency. Cashflow is very important to clients who have years to go before retirement. Tax calculation is awesome and the number we like the fact that you can trace every number via a report.
The Bad
Where to begin...the user interface is extremely clunky and rife with opportunities to make mistakes. It takes forever to create a plan, check it and test scenarios...hours and hours! There are no situations where the program prompts you to check your work or highlights potential errors. The learning curve is huge since so many things are manual or difficult to grasp like future year cash flows how to do this correctly.... Leaving blank spaces or lines can cause errors in the results, but the program never prompts you to remove them. Reports are chock a block with numbers but without the potential to customize them clients glaze over a page of numbers or words. You cannot test scenarios without creating a separate copy of your work...the list goes on. Also, you need the ability to have bonus income which is different than other income.
The Bottom Line
Moneytree needs a total overhaul and needs to have real users give them feedback on their interface if they ever want to be really popular. However, other programs treat planners like they don't need to know the numbers so there is a gap in the market. Emoney is probably the competitor but the price is crazy.
