excellent reminder of one of the MAJOR precepts of rational based portfolio construction-maintain strong real diversification-even though at the extremes of good and bad years in the US stock market - clients will complain that returns weren't good enough (when the S&P500 soars as in 2013) or that diversification didn't stop them from losing money (as in 2008). But then we (advisors) can show clients that over long-term time horizons (+10 years) a really well diversified does work very well.
