The deadline for the House of Representatives' draft of legislation revising the U.S. Tax Code was Wednesday, and Advisors4Advisors' Robert Keebler, CPA/PFS, will share the key planning strategies advisors need to know now today at 4 p.m. EST.

This revision of the U.S. Tax Code, a 10-year $1.5 trillion tax cut, will change almost every aspect of tax planning. Congress is not expected to agree on the final details of the new tax law before Thanksgiving. However, introduction of the House’s version on Wednesday will reveal enough about the shape the final legislation for advisors to identify the clients who will be affected.

While how much of the deduction for state, local and property taxes will be lost will remain unknown, for instance, the House’s version will reveal whether the state and local deduction will be affected. Advisors cannot afford to wait for the final bill to become law to research the tax plan's details because that may not leave enough time to contact clients and proactively plan.

Bob will discuss changes to itemized deductions including state and local tax deductions, tax rates, the impact on the estate and the AMT and issues impacting IRAs, 401(k) plans and pensions. We want to encourage questions and comments at this session, since this area is so fluid right now.

Great job. On the fly meetings are always unpredictable, and Bob handled the front end tech delay with class and professionalism. Thanks for the material and information. It will be great to revisit once the bill gets through the Senate version and heads into conference.
