Description

Most advisors performing due diligence on investment managers are using the wrong tools and can’t determine winning managers from losing ones. Consequently, winners are fired and losers are hired, and clients suffer the consequences.

At this webinar, you’ll learn:

  • Two fundamental questions to differentiate winners from losers
  • Why traditional due diligence tools are ineffective
  • Why indexes and peer groups do not work
  • New tools that can help pick investment winners
  • Evidence-based investing
  • How to require the best from your due diligence researchers

Ron Surz is President and CEO of PPCA Inc and its subsidiary Target Date Solutions (TDS). PPCA is an RIA in San Clemente, CA, providing manager due diligence software and enhanced UMA structures. TDS licenses and manages custom designs for target date funds using a patent-pending methodology. Surz earned an MBA in Finance at the University of Chicago and an MS in Applied Mathematics at the University of Illinois, and holds a CIMA (Certified Investment Management Analyst) designation.

Strongly opinionated presenter. It's ok to believe strongly in what you do but present the case and let the listener decide

Significant work for advisers. Using it in a small advisory business may be problematic.

Ron's an edge cutter and always has been. His perspective/frame re: Loeper approach v. Statman v. Sortino was excellent. He's got to get the providers (the Morningstars) to adopt his approach and products. Most of us retail folk simply don't have the budget to buy it or the CFA staff to use. Or, he needs to find a way to get the work using his approach economically service bureau provided. Great stuff/rocket science...just needs real world useability.

I found the webinar useful- the information outweighed the sales pitch, which is good in my book.

Very interesting topic but ultimately frustrating since access to the due diligence method is not readily available; a major cost barrier. If it is a superior methodolgy, I would hope it is recognized by the industry as a new standard, which would make it available to individual advisors through their BD's or other cost effective means.
