Social media archiver Silentale to shut down, relaunch as SocialReplay.
Silentale, first mentioned on advisors4advisors in this post, was a potential alternative to popular social media archiving services from Socialware, Smarsh, and Arkovi. Yet in a release published to its website today, Silentale announced that it will shut its service down effective February 14.
In its place, the company behind Silentale will unveil a service called SocialReplay, billed as "a time machine for social media accounts."
Archiving of social media accounts is a young niche for service providers and Silentale is the first service I know of to shut its doors. Will there be others that follow Silentale's exit from the market, and if so, how will advisors who use such services to backup and archive their social media messages react?
