Apple's revenues soared 83% to $24.7 billion, and profits grew even faster--up 95%, to $6 billion. Meanwhile, a scary little location-tracking file was discovered on iPhones.

If you dive into the numbers, says Erick Schonfeld atTechCrunch, three areas drove the growth: iPhones, MacBooks and China.

 

Greg Kumparak points out that 50% of Apple's revenue comes from the iPhone.

 

Kumparack also reports on a scary new tactic by Apple that creates a file on your iPhone that is storing locations where you've been with timestamps.

 

PC World followed with a story today that adds some additional facts about the location tracking app.

Unless Barack Obama is setting up US-KGB, which is distinctly possible if you believe he's Putin's puppet, I think I tend toward the explanation in the PC World article. Apparently Apple didn't get the privacy memo though - they really should encrypt the file in situ.
