Gartner Says Apple iPad Market Share Will Decline To 47% By 2015 Hot

"Due to the success of Apple’s iPad, iOS will account for 69 percent of media tablet OSs in 2011, and represent 47 percent of the media tablet market in 2015," according to Gartner's forecast.

Gartner predicts that Android, Google's operating system, will own 39% of the market share of operating systems for tablets in 2015 and BlackBerry will own a 10% market share.

TechCrunch points out that Gartner a year and a half ago dramatically underestimated how fast Android smartphones would gain market share versus iPhone.

Technology is changing so quickly that these estimates are little more than guesses.

Gartner's press release doesn't mention anything about a Windows tablet operating system, which is expected to be released in 3Q2012.
