Stopping the usage of Internet Explorer is not the answer! Especially since Internet Explorer seems to be the only browser out there that is sensitive enough to know if your machine is infected with a virus. The reality is that any browser could have a vulnerability, however if you protect your computers properly this can all be avoided.

Being in financial services there are many application that require Internet Explorer. The best thing to do is to protect your computer from viruses. Don’t just rely on Microsoft to protect your computer use a third party security company proven within financial services.

Microsoft is working on a solution for the vulnerability in Internet Explorer versions 6, 7, 8 and 9. In the meantime here are some things that can be done to help prevent your computer from becoming vulnerable to attacks:

                1. Enable a firewall
                2. Apply all software updates
                3. Install anti-virus software
                4. Install anti-spyware software

Internet Explorer not working is normally a clear indication that your computer is infected, not that it is time to get another browser.
