Details of Hewlett-Packard's new WebOS tablet have leaked out, and it may be the world's first true cloud tablet.

Users will store data online rather than on the device itself.

Details are lacking, but based on information appearing on the blog Engadget, the device could store photographs, videos and documents within the cloud.

Last year, HP bought Palm and it is leveraging the highly regarded Palm operating system for its tablet.

If you are interested in why the HP tab may be such a big deal, take a look at Walter Mossberg's column in today's Wall Street Journal in which he concludes that that iPad apps that let you take control remotely of your PC are "clumsy."

I currently access files, pictures, and videos through the cloud on my iPad with apps like Dropbox and Sugarsync. There's no need to run remote desktop programs.
