Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac played important roles in the nation’s financial meltdown. While the extent of that role continues to be debated, it’s important to ensure these government-sponsored agencies cannot reprise that role in the future.

New York Times columnist Floyd Norris says “Frannie,” as he refers to the two agencies, clearly plays too big a role in the housing finance system.
