Investors Reverse Course And Flood Back Into Bond Funds In First Week

The first week of the new year saw the reversal of a trend that was widely reported in December, when investors fled bond funds and returned to long-term mutual funds.

The Investment Company Institute reported that long-term mutual funds saw a net outflow in the first week of 2011 while bond funds enjoyed a net inflow. That marks a reversal from December trends that saw investors flee bond funds amid widespread publicity over problems in the municipal bond market.


Hybrid funds also enjoyed net inflows as the new year got under way.
