The House Financial Services and Budget Committees will lose four Republican members in 2013 because they opposed Speaker John Boehner’s positions on budget and spending issues.

Walter Jones of North Carolina and David Schweikert of Arizona will be removed from the Financial Services Committee and Justin Amash of Michigan and Tim Huelskamp of Kansas were removed from the Budget Committee.

The four opposed the Budget Control Act last year that effectively raised the debt ceiling and ended a legislative impasse between the Republican-controlled House and President Obama that put the US in danger of defaulting on its debt.

The four were not considered to be team players. Jones said that coming to Washington required voting with one’s conscience, not being a puppet.

Schweitzkert said the ejections could become a wedge between the national conservative movement and conference leadership.
